# How to use a teleprompter on Zoom, Teams and Google Meet

By [Richard Frantzen](https://x.com/frantzenrichard), maker of Best Free Prompter · Updated 3 November 2026

Keep eye contact while you present or pitch on a video call. A browser teleprompter under your webcam is all you need, and it can follow your voice.

**Transparency:** we make Best Free Prompter, so it is listed first as the free, no-download option. Everything about the other apps comes from their official websites and app store listings, checked 3 November 2026, and we say where another app is the better choice.

## Set up a teleprompter for Zoom, Teams or Google Meet

1. **Open the teleprompter in a separate browser window.** [Best Free Prompter](https://www.bestfreeprompter.com/) runs in any browser, so it works next to Zoom, Teams and Meet without installing anything.
2. **Put it right under your camera.** Make the window narrow and drag it to the top of the screen, just below the webcam. The closer the text is to the lens, the more it looks like eye contact.
3. **Make the text small and the margins wide.** Fewer words per line means your eyes move less. Try a text size of 32 to 40 px and side margins of 20 to 30%.
4. **Let it follow your voice.** Turn on *Follow my voice* in Settings so it scrolls as you talk and waits when you pause or answer a question. In Chrome or Edge, choose the same microphone you use in the call.
5. **Use a remote if you move around.** Scan the QR code under *Use your phone as a remote* to pause, rewind or change speed from your phone.

## Do Zoom, Teams or Meet have a built-in teleprompter?

- **Zoom:** no built-in teleprompter; third-party Zoom apps exist.
- **Microsoft:** PowerPoint's Record feature has a teleprompter view that shows your slide notes while recording, currently described for Windows and Office Insiders ([Microsoft](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint/record-your-presentation)).
- **Google Meet:** you can see Google Slides speaker notes while presenting, on Workspace Business Standard and higher ([Google](https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2023/01/view-google-slides-speaker-notes-in-google-meet.html)).

Dedicated options include Speakflow, which can overlay the script on top of Zoom, Meet and Teams, and Elgato's prompter software, whose Virtual Prompter can float on screen or sit by a laptop's notch (in public beta).

## Tips so it doesn't look read

- Write the way you speak: short sentences, one idea per line.
- Leave blank lines where you want to pause or look at the audience.
- Use bullet points instead of full sentences for Q&A, so you talk instead of read.
- Rehearse once with voice follow on; it adapts to your pace.
