The best PromptSmart alternatives
PromptSmart is known for VoiceTrack, but it needs a subscription after the trial. These teleprompters also follow your voice, several of them for free.
Open the free teleprompter No sign-up. Works in your browser.
Transparency: we make Best Free Prompter, so it is listed first as the free, no-download option. Everything about the other apps comes from their official websites and app store listings, checked 3 November 2026, and we say where another app is the better choice.
The short answer
- Free voice follow in any browser: Best Free Prompter
- Voice scrolling plus recording: Teleprompter.com
- Presenters and teams: Speakflow
- Free voice scrolling in Chrome: Teleprompter Mirror (web software)
- A desk setup with real eye contact: Elgato Prompter
- IOS users who prefer a remote: Teleprompter Pro
Why people look for a PromptSmart alternative
- Price: PromptSmart+ is free to download, but VoiceTrack, recording and mirroring need the subscription ($8.99 a month or $79.99 a year as listed), and extra language packs are sold separately.
- Devices: PromptSmart+ is an iPhone, iPad and Android app. If you want to read from a laptop or a work computer, a browser teleprompter is simpler.
PromptSmart is still a good choice if you want mature, offline voice tracking on a phone and you're happy to pay for it.

How we compared them
We looked at what matters when you actually read a script on camera: whether the text can follow your voice instead of a fixed speed, what you can do for free, which devices it runs on, whether it records video itself, and what you have to give up (an account, a watermark, a subscription). Facts come from each product's own website and app store listing; we don't quote anonymous reviews.
