A free voice-activated teleprompter
Stop chasing a scroll speed. Best Free Prompter listens while you read and keeps your line at the reading line, so you can speak naturally.

How voice follow works
A voice-activated teleprompter scrolls by listening to you instead of running at a fixed speed. In Best Free Prompter, your browser's speech recognition turns what you say into words. The teleprompter compares the last few words it heard with your script, finds where they fit best just ahead of your current position, and smoothly scrolls that line to the reading line.
Because it matches several words at a time, a misheard word or a small ad-lib does not throw it off. If you skip ahead or go back, scroll to that spot and it carries on from there.
Start in four steps
- Open the teleprompter and paste your script.
- Open Settings and choose Follow my voice.
- Check the spoken language (detected from your script) and, in Chrome or Edge, pick your microphone and watch the level meter.
- Press Space, allow the microphone, and start reading.
Two looks: Mark words or Soft
Mark words dims the words you have read and highlights the word you are on. Soft shows no highlights: lines above the reading line gently fade, and the text glides with smoother motion. Choose under Look while following.
Where your voice is processed
In recent versions of Chrome, speech can be recognised on your device. When that is available the settings say so, and when a one-time language download is needed you can start it from there. Other browsers, and older Chrome versions, use the browser's own online speech service (Google in Chrome, Microsoft in Edge, Apple in Safari). Best Free Prompter itself never receives your audio, and your script never leaves your device. More about privacy.
